I live in a beautiful coastal town north of Boston with my husband and two daughters…a long way from home where I grew up in a small farming community of less than 1,000 people in Eastern Oregon. My family is still there, growing wheat on 3,000 acres of fertile ground near the foothills of the Blue Mountains, a heaven on earth in its own right. I’m a work-at-home mom: a freelance graphic designer, technical illustrator and painter-turned-potter. As for this blog, it was begun mainly with the IC community in mind, from the standpoint of an artist working on healing through the creative process whether it be painting, writing or making pottery. IC stands for “Interstitial Cystitis”, a painful bladder disease that can take years to untangle the root cause. Meanwhile, managing the associated symptoms can be very difficult at times. The title Breathing Easy comes from my ability to breathe easier these days, thanks to a lot of hard work over the past 10 years, and the help of my family and friends, the women and men on the IC Puzzle message board, and a series of doctors, practitioners, teachers and gifted healers who have fallen in my path along the way. As stated on my first post called Hello World, my intention here is “to shed a positive light on an otherwise devastating condition and to offer hope of recovery to anyone who is willing to look beyond the surface of things and understand the alchemy of certain events in our lives. Those events often bring about a new awareness and a change of consciousness of what it means to be a spiritual being living in a physical world.” I hope you enjoy following my journey…

Wonderful! Art is healing. It’s helped me recover from PTSD.
Thank you for sharing this.
My friend sent me the dog dancing, but it never came through. Instead, I’ve enjoyed looking at your website and admiring your artwork. I used to throw at the wheel a zillion years ago and I just think your ceramic pieces are beautiful. Talk about precision in your technique and your glazes are wonderful. Wow! I come from a two-parent (artists) home, so I just love to see artwork. Your other pieces are wonderful, too. Love to see people who stick to their creative path. So wonderful!
I’m enjoying this site with such interesting things to read and see. A friend forwarded “Dog Dance” to me and I have since viewed it repeatedly and shared it with friends who are sharing it with friends …
I believe in the healing powers of art and the human-animal bond. Both have helped me beat depression. They have always been interesting and exciting to me.
Your work is beautiful. Thank you
Thanks to you too, Carol. Hope you come back again and visit!
It made this grown man cry (Dog Dance). Such beauty and love. I just wrote a book about my “Amazing Gracie”. If you would like to see my book WebSite… http://www.myamazinggracie.com or see a YouTube video of Gracie…. http://www.crittercoalition.net . I think… you especially… will see what I mean.
Breathing Easy…Beautiful!! Thanks for doing this… David
I was sent to your website through a link shared on a horse site that I frequent – to view the Dog Dance. That video is truly wonderful and the music is so emotional.
I’m so happy that I’ve found your site. Your story and artwork are truly amazing. Even though I haven’t met you – reading your story reminds me of my mother. When I explained your blog to her – she said, “That sounds like the website that I’ve always wanted to create. What is a blog?”
I would love to make it to one of your shows to see your artwork and pottery in person.
You have enriched my life by being. Your place in this big world has reached out and touch me. It reminds me of a song or two from the musical play “Wicked”. “Because I knew you I have been changed……..” Thank you for the gift!
I know a bit about your medical problem as my kitty “Snowy” just recently came down with Feline Ideopathic Cystitis and they don’t know what causes it. I saw the pain he was in and my heart goes out to you. He is better now but, he may get it again or not. So, I don’t know if he will suffer an attack again but, seeing what he went through I know that your life has been, at times, very trying. May the universe bring you the healing energy that it holds and free you from this unfortunate problem. My hat is off to you, your family and your angel baby. This was sent to me by a fellow animal lover and I have passed it on so that your spirit, beauty and grace along with that of Tina’s talented Dancing Dog will touch more lives. Thank you for that. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!
Hello Melynn
I have just found your blog …. we both work on clay ‘peas in the pod’ either side of the Atlantic! Unlike you, I have given up on ‘perfecting glazes’ and I turn them out in all sorts of different colours!
