Pitcher Painting
April 8, 2008 by Melynn
My friend Colleen (who is generally a landscape painter), thought it would be a fun exercise to paint the pitcher I made in my ceramics class. I love the colors she chose and the lively, expressive way she applied the paint. I haven’t glazed this pitcher yet, but seeing it in color has given me a few ideas of how I might go about it. Thanks, Colleen!

I love it! kt
I think that the reason I don’t attempt to paint still life compositions is because I have difficulty putting much feeling into it. When I saw the picture of your tall and elegant vessel (with so much personality) I felt the pull to paint it! While I was using my brushstrokes to sculpt I could see an image in my mind of you at your wheel…it was a happy connection! I probably should stick to landscapes…but I had a good time trying!
i think the handle has great gesture! Reminds me of the way a girl will sometimes put her hand on her hip.
Thanks Frank…I like that the pitcher has “attitude”
