I stood beside a hill
Smooth with new-laid snow,
A single star looked out
From the cold evening glow. There was no other creature
That saw what I could see-
I stood and watched the evening star
As long as it watched me.– by Sara Teasdale

Thank you for this beautiful poem! I have been “skywatching” a lot this week, full moon, eclipse and of course so many beautiful stars. The snow sparkling under the heavenly evening night calms my soul and brings peace to my heart. I like to think that people everywhere can look and receive this special gift from the sky no matter where they are or what is happening to them. Let there be peace on all of the earth for all people tonight!
Nice painting, Melynn, one of your best.
Seriously, though, i was thinking as i looked down your page, you have such nice graphics and artwork here. it would be a pleasure to visit even if for no other reason.
Thanks, Frank. You know, I thought about leaving a credit to Van Gogh for that painting, but then I figured it would look silly since practically everyone in the world must know that painting. Funny too, after seeing it here, I felt that my paintings below looked so pale in comparison. After all, there is a reason Van Gogh is Van Gogh!
Thanks too Darleen, for leaving such a nice comment on my blog. You always have such a poetic, peaceful tone to your comments that add so much to my posts. It’s a real pleasure to have you here!
I love that painting and the song “Vincent” by Don McLean. There’s a nice video on Youtube with his paintings and the song here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkvLq0TYiwI
That is a nice poem that takes you away to a comfort that we all seem to seek.
I went for a walk in the woods today and felt that comfort.
I love the youtube video bookbabie, thanks for sharing it.

I want to be in that place of mind….away from it all and yet so close to what matters.
Being a painter I often feel that I am inside Beauty. When I look at Van Gogh’s paintings…I know he was .
