So, I’ve finally been tagged…the long anticipated, dreaded tag. I normally wouldn’t participate in a blogging game (mainly because I don’t like blogging games and I’m not very good about following rules), but because it was my dear friend Richard who tagged me, I’m willing to comply…partially. Therefore, I’m following rules 1 through 3, but leaving number 4 out. If the blog owners I tag at the end of this post happen to read this and want to play, consider yourself warmly invited. If you’ve already been tagged, consider yourself off the hook. If you don’t have time or you just don’t want to play, consider yourself free of any pressure or obligation. That’s the way Richard gently put it to me when I hesitated, so the same goes for all of you.
The rules:
- Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
- Share 7 facts about yourself.
- Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blog.
- Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
Seven facts about me:
1. When I was in 6th grade, I traveled to Japan with a group of violin students for a two week study at Dr. Shinichi Suzuki’s violin school in Matsumoto. Because I was in the right place at the right time (not because I was exceptionally talented), I had the opportunity to have a private lesson with Suzuki himself…and I have a photo to prove it. I still keep it tucked into a pocket in my violin case.

2. When I was a kid, the very first pop song I heard was “Rocket Man” by Elton John. It was playing on a jukebox in a cafĂ© in my small hometown when I walked in after school one day and it stopped me in my tracks. I immediately went out and bought the album “Honky Chateau” that had the soundtrack, which is also the first album I ever bought.
3. I’ve written two novels that will most likely never see the light of day. One is a work of fiction that I started in my 20’s, and the other is a memoir.
4. I was voted “class clown” in my high-school senior class yearbook.
5. I was virtually housebound for years during the worst period of my struggle with IC. I still have anxiety issues whenever I have to travel.
6. I rarely watch television or read the newspaper, although I have started listening to NPR while working in my studio so I have some idea of what’s going on in the world.
7. I’m in the third year of a shamanic training course with a great group of people (now friends) led by Ann Drake Psy.D, who, by the way, I give much credit to for helping me get to where I am now in my healing from IC.
Those I’m tagging:
Ivy Arts, Kt40 Artwork, Bookbabie, Thirteenth Story, Suburose, The Crafty Shrimp and My Inner Edge.
I was asked but refused to play (I’ve never shared my toys or played well with others) but it certainly was interesting to read the facts about you, as it was to read those about Richard. Fancy you having studied with Dr. Suzuki!
I can’t believe how much your girls look like you! I don’t think I’ve seen pictures of young Melynn. I’m trying to think of 7 interesting things about me. I’ve only come up with 4 or 5. If I get a few more, I’ll play the tag game.
I had a couple Suzuki’s – a 250cc motorcycle and a Suzuki SideKick 4wd, and I’ve seen a violin.
Thanks for sharing Melynn.
Stopped by to check out your blog. And wanted to comment on your Thought for the Week. THANK YOU! It is like a gentle reminder for me…and just the right time. I saw Myss speak several years ago at a booksigning in Phoenix. She was incredibly inspiring and I left there feeling so empowered. Thank you.
Thanks for stopping by, sperlygirl. Yes… Caroline Myss is incredible. I’ve never heard her speak, but I have a couple of her books that have been very helpful to me.
Hey Melynn,
Thanks for the blog game. I enjoyed coming up with some very random facts and I loved reading yours.
I played tag with you (sort of), thanks for thinking of me!
Hi from Mom at sea going up Pacific Ocean coast from Panama Canal! You wont believe we just saw interview with Elton John on TV this morn on sea day, and heard him play “Rocket Man.” I remembered you had bought his album (s) and think we still have them at home. That was the first that I knew of him. You introduced your old parents to many, many things! Love you!
